Back to the Basics: KindergARTen

Picture this: You’re surrounded. Everyone is yelling. Chaos.  Hands and voices are coming at you from every direction.

Is it war? Black Friday? Not quite. It’s Kindergarten.

Going back to the basics, kindergarten art projects: a staple on refrigerators across the nation, the thing you find in your dad’s garage when you’re in your thirties, the gifts your mom pretended to like because she loves you. Kindergarten art is intense, it’s grueling, and it’s actually amazing.

A favorite activity I remember doing in Kindergarten is creating texture rubbings. You can create them from everyday surfaces around you, or with pre-made texture plates meant specifically for this purpose.

So pull out your crayons and make some textures. Layer ’em up. Have fun. I know I did. I’m definitely putting mine on the refrigerator.
